Course Description
Whether you call them comic books, graphic novels, manga, bandes dessinées, or webtoons, comics are an art form that has global reach but is often misunderstood. Led by instructors from Carleton University’s Research on Comics, Con Events and Transmedia Lab, this mini-course introduces students to the history and cultural impact of comics. Students will develop an appreciation for different styles and forms of comics while building towards writing and drawing their own mini-comics and zines through hands-on exercises.
