AI is everywhere, on your phone, in your socials, even in the apps you use for school. But who builds it? how does it work? and can we trust it? In this interactive mini-course, you’ll explore the secrets behind today’s smartest tech. You’ll try hands-on activities, analyze real examples, and debate big questions about fairness, privacy, and power. By the end of the mini-course, you’ll be able to spot misleading AI claims, understand what these tools can and can’t do, and think critically about the technology shaping our world right now.
Biography
PhD candidate from Sri Lanka, Sajani Karunaweera is deeply dedicated to the area of educational technologies and how digital tools can be used in critical, reflective, and accessible ways. Whether it is in the context of teaching, assessment or professional development, her work attempts to explore the use of technologies, specifically Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), as a tool mediated by educators to expand opportunities for inclusion, participation, and success. Her research reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that the integration of emerging technologies like GenAI supports equity and justice in education.
