Institution: University of Ottawa ()
Category: Faculty of Health Sciences
Language: English

Course Description

Ever wonder how athletes, gamers, or musicians perform complex skills without thinking? This course lets you "unlock" the science of movement. We'll explore the "code" that connects your brain to your body, focusing on three keys: the Mind (focus & mindset), the Muscle (power & physiology), and Motor Control (how your brain builds "muscle memory"). Through hands-on discussions and activities, you'll learn how to analyze movement and discover exciting careers as a kinesiologist, physiotherapist, or coach.

Biography

As a graduate student in the School of Human Kinetics and an assistant coach here at uOttawa, I'm passionate about what makes us move. My studies focus on the physics of movement (biomechanics), but I've learned that the mind and the brain are just as important. My goal is to give students a hands-on look at this 'toolkit' and show them how the mind, muscles, and brain must all work together to build skill and achieve high performance.
