Course Description
Cities are filled with stories waiting to be noticed—will you catch them? This interactive mini-course turns students into cultural detectives as they visit neighbourhoods, hunt for signs and symbols of diversity, and create creative maps and photo stories. Along the way, students will discover how immigration shapes Canada’s urban landscapes and learn hands-on skills in mapping, observation, and digital storytelling. No prior knowledge required—just curiosity and creativity!
Biography
I am a social geographer specializing in migration studies, with a Ph.D. from the University of Ottawa. My work focuses on housing, immigrant integration, transnational mobility, and urban diversity in Canadian cities. I study how migrants—including established immigrants, new comers, international students, and (queer) refugees of colour—navigate housing, work, community networks, and belonging.
