Course Description

This course is for aspiring creative writers, providing a brief overview of various short forms in various genres: flash fiction, short stories, memoirs, dystopias, and more. Built on an experiential learning model, this course will teach students how to precisely and concisely communicate complex emotions and ideas. Exercises will include hands-on activities, interactive games, workshopping, and short readings from texts such as "The Hunger Games" and Stephen King’s "On Writing." Over the week, students will work towards the drafting and workshopping of a creative writing project, equipping them with a toolkit of skills, including public speaking, collaboration, and written communication.
