Course Description
This course will give students an overview of a few of the major trends and sub-genres in contemporary experimental cinema, including animation, found footage, performance art, autobiography and travelogue, with discussions of the styles, techniques, and themes found in a selection of some of the best underground and avant-garde short films created by independent DIY filmmakers. Students will also be given the opportunity to create a short video experiment of their own using their phone camera, and to see it projected in a screening of student work on the final day of the course.
