Course Description
Have you ever wondered how bridges stay strong and flexible at the same time? In this mini-course, students will explore the fascinating world of bridge engineering through fun hands-on activities and simple simulations. You’ll learn how forces like wind, traffic, and temperature affect bridges and discover how engineers design them to move safely. By the end of the week, you will build and test your own model bridge while developing creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork skills — just like real engineers!
Biography
I am a PhD candidate in Civil Engineering at the University of Ottawa, specializing in structural analysis and bridge engineering. My research focuses on the design and finite element modeling of long-span bridges under thermal and wind effects. I also serve as a Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Engineering, where I assist in undergraduate courses and guide students through applied engineering concepts.
