Course Description
Did you know walls can store sunshine like a battery? In this fun, hands-on workshop, you’ll discover how plants like hemp and other fascinating bio-materials help buildings stay cool in summer and warm in winter — all without air conditioning! Together, we’ll mix and cast eco-friendly mini blocks and explore how civil engineers use science and sustainability to design the green buildings of the future.
Biography
Hi, I am Ziqi, a civil engineering phd student specializing in sustainable construction materials and zero-emission buildings. I have experience in leading grade 6 students in monthly seminar to learn about natural forest systems, birds and eco-systems, how human activities affect the growth of corals and other sea lives, and more environmental protection topics. I have extensive experience in experimental design, common lab operations, and interactive seminar teaching. My research combines sustainability, innovation, and practical applications in construction and bio-based concrete, aiming to inspire young learners to explore eco-friendly engineering solutions.
