Intro to Rocket Science

Établissement : Université d'Ottawa ()
Catégorie : Faculté de génie
Langue : English

Description du cours

A fun and interactive introduction to aerodynamics and rocketry concepts for students interested in aeronautical engineering. The weekly session will be divided based on the sub-components of a rocket, including structural, propulsion, and control systems. Content will focus on explaining basic principles for design and optimization of aeronautic vessels, such as combustion, wing design, lift and drag etc., with a strong hands-on component. Students will use the concepts learned in class to design and build their own rockets, which will be launched at the end of the week.

Biographie

My name is Sophia Scott, and I am a MASc. student at UOttawa in environmental engineering. I graduated from the University of Waterloo with a mechanical engineering degree, where I had the opportunity to take several aerodynamics, combustion, and fluid dynamics related courses. I also completed a co-op term at Airbus Helicopters in Germany, which allowed me to apply my in class knowledge and observe the process of helicopter and airplane manufacturing. I love to teach and share my passions, and would love to inspire and mentor the next generation of engineers.
