Regeneration Station: Stem Cell Biology and Tissue Engineering

Établissement : Université d'Ottawa ()
Catégorie : Faculté de génie
Langue : English

Description du cours

In this hands-on mini-course, students will explore the exciting world of stem cells, regenerative medicine, and tissue engineering. Participants will learn how scientists heal the body using lab-grown tissues and biomaterials through interactive experiments, design challenges, and real-world case studies. Students will be introduced to key concepts like the tissue engineering triad and the ethics of stem cell research, while discovering how biology and engineering intersect. By the end of the course, students will gain a basic understanding of stem cell biology and explore how scientists, engineers, and doctors work together to develop/employ regenerative therapies to improve human health.

Biographie

I am a Master’s student in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Ottawa, where my research focuses on developing novel biomaterials for neural tissue engineering. I previously completed an Honours BSc in Translational and Molecular Medicine at uOttawa. I have hands-on experience in cell culture, microbiology, biomaterials, and microscopy. I have also volunteered with Let’s Talk Science, where I developed a passion for engaging young learners and making complex scientific concepts accessible. I am especially committed to promoting scientific literacy and inspiring students to explore careers in STEM!
